K-5 Rec Camp

Summer camps are back! We will be offering 6 weeks of recreation-based summer camps for summer 2024.

This recreation camp is an enrichment program. We are not a childcare service. After registering, a camper handbook will be sent to you.

Grades: Entering Kindergarten – Entering 5th grade

Pricing:

Per Week: $290 (rec center member)/ $310 non-rec center member

The themes below are the focus of each morning of camp, followed by various recreational activities in the afternoon.

Refund Policies

In order to receive a full refund, it must be request at least 2 weeks prior to the week you are requesting a refund for. You will receive a 50% refund when you request at least 1 week before the start of the week. Anytime after 1 week prior, we will not be issuing any refunds.

Weekly Sessions:

Week 1: July 8 – 12 | Space Exploration

This week is dedicated to all things out of this world from marble painting planets, splatter painting space, and building their own rockets. 

Week 2: July 15 – 19 | Flashback to Jurassic

This week explores the Jurassic World and the unbelievable creatures that roamed the earth millions of years ago.

Week 3: July 22– 26 | The Olympic Games

Learn about the history behind the Olympic Games and what events will take place in this year's Olympic Games in Paris, France. Participate in some of the sports that the greatest athletes in the world compete in.

Week 4: July 29 – August 2 | Around the World in 5 Days

Campers will visit a new country each day of camp. We will be exploring language, sports, songs, and games from around the world.

Week 5: August 5 – 9 | Explore Washington

From the deserts of Eastern Washington to the Salish Sea we will learn about the flora, fauna, and animals of the nine ecoregions of Washington.

Week 6: August 12 – August 16 | Science and Discovery

This week explores the thrilling discoveries in the many different fields of science.

5th/6th grade Science and Discovery Half Days: August 12 - August 16

This is for campers going into 5th or 6th grade only. You will be able to choose from AM (9am-1pm) or PM (1pm-5pm) to participate in the Science and Discovery week for only half a day. 

Cost: $150 per camper

If you have already signed up your camper for the regular Week 6 Youth Camp, do not sign them up for this session. Please only choose either AM or PM, both AM and PM campers will be doing the same activities

The moon is more explored than the ocean, and that includes the Salish Sea. In this week-long, half day experience, 5th & 6th grade students will learn about early engineering by first nations to harvest dentalium shells from the deep sea. They will then work as teams of scientists and engineers to build remotely operated vehicles (ROV’s) that can be used to investigate a variety of phenomena beneath the sea!"

*There may be the use of age-appropriate video clips to support the morning’s theme and activities. These are curated carefully by camp staff.

Rec Center Youth Passes

Members are welcome to bring their dependents under the age of 18 to the Student Recreation Center during designated family hours only. The entry fee for dependents accompanying a parent or guardian member is $4 per child aged 12 and under, and $6 per child aged 13-17.

Children below 14 years old must participate in all activities under the direct supervision of their parent or guardian. It's important to note that the weight room and cardio area are off limits to dependents under 14 years old. Members may bring in their dependents plus two non-dependent children at one time.

Youth dependents aged 14-17 may complete a building orientation and cardio room instruction certification course. Upon completion, they are allowed to participate in activities without direct supervision, but their parent or guardian must be present in the facility at all times. Additionally, the lower weight room remains off-limits to participants under 18 years old.

Family hours: Fridays 5-10 p.m., Saturdays/Sundays, summer quarter, intersessions and holidays.
