Inclusive Recreation

In partnership with National Intramural-Recreational Sports Association (NIRSA) and the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA), Western Washington University is committed to providing inclusive programming throughout all Campus Recreation departments. Western Washington University’s Intramural Sports program has taken steps to welcome all students living within our diverse community. Moving forward, our Intramural programs want to recognize and include all transgender and non-binary student populations on campus. Intramural Sports empowers students to participate in sports leagues and tournaments based on their expressed gender identity. We fully recognize that any given student’s gender may change over the course of their college career and ask that they select whatever represents them best and to email intramurals@wwu.edu to make any changes. We are committed to respecting the gender identity for every single individual playing Intramural Sports at Western Washington University.

Western Washington University continually strives to create inclusive and non-discriminatory campus services. In particular, our Intramural program is committed to providing a welcoming, user-friendly experience to all students in our community. We are committed to full inclusion of transgender and non-binary student populations. All students will be supported based on their expressed gender identity. To find out more please email intramurals@wwu.edu or read our participant handbook.
