Daphne Scott

She/Her, Swift & Strong Instructor

About

Daphne Scott developed a passion for Masters Track and Field starting in 2006, as a 46 year old. Memories of sprinting fast in High School, plus an active background in hiking, mountaineering, kayaking, gardening, martial arts as well as raising three young sons gave a solid fitness base. In 2009 Daphne signed up for her very first Women's Decathlon Championship, learning the very basic survival skills for pole vault, hurdles, discus and javelin, which she had never competed in before, in 6 weeks. That mark established the very first W45-49 Decathlon age-group American Record ever. Fast forward many years of competing and learning, and Daphne currently holds the American Record for W60-64 Decathlon since 2022. She also holds many National Titles in Track and Field for sprints, hurdles, and multi-events. She loves to learn new skills and has a passion for unleashing and developing untapped potential in herself and everyone around her. She believes that now is the perfect time to start the learning process, regardless of age. Daphne teaches Mathematics at WWU and does Assistant Coaching with the WWU Track and Field Team.

Speed in running and basic athletic movements can definitely be developed, which is where this Swift & Strong Speed Class comes in handy!! Daphne sees speed skills as an essential component of basic functional fitness for life.
