About

Abby is belay and lead certified. Shas been climbing since the fall of 2022, her freshman year at Western. Since she learned to climb here at the rec, it holds a special place in her heart. Abby has climbed outside in various places throughout the Pacific Northwest, as well as Canada and California, continuing to learn and grow in the sport.

She has taught several of the climbing classes at the Rec; bouldering, knot tying, top rope, and lead. She is also a trip leader and officer for WWU’s Climbing Club. This enables her to have the opportunity to guide students and share the world of outdoor climbing, giving back what previous trip leaders have done for her. Since she wants to explore guiding as a career, this experience is invaluable. Abby’s major is Outdoor Recreation Management and Leadership, so this is what she loves to do! In addition, as an officer for Adaptive Sports Club she helps put on adaptive events at the Rec. This has given her knowledge in promoting recreation enjoyment for all participants.

Climbing opens the door to the enjoyment of beautiful places and people, while challenging you mentally and physically. Abby hopes to help you explore that. The value of learning skills and gaining strength is glorious. Let’s go climb!
